Alan Field Is 2009 Melges 24 Gold Cup Champion, Paul Hulsey Named Top Corinthian

Congratulations to Alan Field and his WTF team as they are 2009 Melges 24 Gold Cup Champions. Field delivered yet another phenomenal performance, adding three bullets to his bag, winning the championship with an impressive 11 points. In second place overall was Argyle Campbell on Rock n’ Roll and Guy Mossman on Battle Rhythm in third.

From Saturday to Sunday, things didn’t change at all for the top three, however the top ten received a little shake-up with John Podmajersky on USA-511 moving up from sixth place to fourth. A second place in race 8, and a third in race 9 allowed him to edge an advantage over fifth place Mike Dow on Flying Toaster. In sixth overall, and number one in the Corinthian division is Paul Hulsey on Hoodlum Racing.

Augie Hernandez on High Voltage slipped from fourth to finish seventh. Placed second overall in the Corinthian competition, Fred Rozelle on Rustler had a great event maintaining eighth. Finishing ninth is Bob Pethick on Bretwalda and rounding out the top ten is Kyle Vowels on I’m With Stupid.

Chicago Small Boat Verve - Aug 8-9

After we are all worn out from doing 750 miles on the great lakes (over the next two weeks) and racing for three days in Harbor Springs (well, some of us anyways ;), It will be time for our next Scored Midwest Event, The Chicago Small Boat Verve!!!  The Verve is also the best place in the Midwest to get some fleet time prior to the GTYC Gold Cup a few weeks later...

The Verve is being held out of Chicago's Belmont Harbor over the weekend of August 7-8.

The entry fee is nice and low @ ($75), which helps to offset the parking fees and things.... Also, if you haven't been there before, the Belmont Harbor is the most logistics friendly harbor in Chicago by far!

Here's the quick Links to the Verve Site, NOR and the Yacht Scoring sign up page...
